About Daan van Loenhout
Artist statement

My art listens to 'quiet' sounds in a deafening world. I find it important to find assurance of connection with the deepest essence of existence, in nature, in ourselves. The world increasingly resembles a carousel from which you see ideological light and dark rapidly alternating or standing opposite each other as strange manifestations.
You can no longer afford illusions. Existence seems to be nothing but usurpation, appropriation. Once you know this, you have solid ground beneath your feet again. Disillusions can actually serve very well as stepping-stones. The boundaries between art, science and philosophy have also become blurred; all three can make existence clearer and richer through research; the ambitions of the arts will only increase.
I believe in showing from my studio during my exploration towards philosophical heights and depths of existence that a grander experience and independent connection beyond our limited existence of usurpation, dissolution and overwhelming noise are attainable and freely available.
